About Us

Our Library

The library is located at the far end of the Office / Senior block.  It has wheelchair access and is adjacent to the computer suite.  It is a very colourful, inviting area with a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books available for borrowing, using a computerised system.

Picture books particularly suitable for our youngest children are identified and stored in bins for easy access.  Similarly, sophisticated picture books more suited to our oldest children are identified and displayed on separate shelving.  Graphic novels on high demand are also shelved separately.

Sixteen new books are put on display for a week, then shelved for borrowing.  There is also an area for new teacher resources to be displayed before becoming available for use.

A large display area is also available for focus on a theme, curriculum area, topic or book genre.

The library is run by a part time librarian with support from designated teaching staff.

Some of our Years 5 & 6 students are trained as librarians to assist junior and middle school classes with borrowing and finding books.  They also do a sterling job of shelving the returns, opening the library up in the mornings and closing it at the end of the day.

Opening hours:
The library is open from 8:30am to 3pm  Monday to Friday.  It is open every lunch hour from 1pm to 1:25pm. ( except on wet days )

All classes are timetabled to visit, research and borrow books.  Books are issued for 14 days and users are responsible for returning them by the due date as well as handling the books with care.  We reserve the right to charge replacement costs for lost books or books overdue for more than six weeks.
